Serving Marion County churches and families since 1991…

In 1990, several ministers were concerned about the many people stopping at their churches asking for aid. This began the search for a means for churches to help our community without duplicating assistance and ensuring good stewardship of church resources.

A program called Love In the Name of Christ, sponsored by World Vision, was identified as a solution. It took about a year to gather together interested people from at least 6 denominations to make the program a reality in Marion.

On February 10, 1991, the dedication service was held at Salem UCC. When Love INC was organized, each member church had a lay person involved to take care of needs when the Love INC office contacted them.

In 2009, the Love INC office moved its headquarters to 196 South Main Street in Marion. Despite hard economic times, it continued to grow and meet the requirements of people in need in our community.

As our community’s needs evolved in a post-pandemic world, our ministry, too, evolved and re-evaluated itself. In 2022, it was determined to withdraw from the Love INC National Movement. In doing so, the ministry rebranded and renamed itself Aspire Ministries and also relocated headquarters to its newest location at 205 W Center Street in Downtown Marion. There is now a new name, new logo, and a new location, but we continue to serve our community with excellence and provide more opportunities for growth as our community requires.

God continues to surprise us with blessings as we follow the path he has laid out before us. We look forward to becoming more involved in relational/transformational ministry – ministry characterized not only by hand-outs but by hand-ups as volunteers build trusting relationships with people in need, encourage and include them in the solution to their needs, and allow the Holy Spirit to work to bring about physical and spiritual transformation.
